THE BATHS OF STIGLIANO (BRACCIANO LAKE)
The baths of Stigliano are far just few kilometres from Rome. This is a quiet village situated in the green hills on the eastern side of the Tolfa mountains near the Lake of Bracciano.
The thermal spring was already known by the Etruscans and was later exploited by the Romans which built the Spa. The name derives from the Latin aquae stygianae, so called because were associated to the marshy Styx, the river of the Underworld.
The thermal life of the area dates back to the eighteenth century, when the princes Altieri, representatives of the Roman nobility, built an hotel to accommodate travelers in search of relief from rheumatic diseases and gout. The present building Spa dates back to the mid 900. Today, both structures have been subject of a restructuring. Among the innovations, there are an outdoor swimming pool and one indoor linked together, and a Spa for skin care. A park of 20 hectares surrounds the baths.

THE BATHS OF TIVOLI
Bagni di Tivoli is only 9 km far from Rome. The mild climate and the beauty of the places attracted here, already in Roman times, famous personalities such as Sallustio, Catullus, Horace and Mecenate. Among the attractions of the place the Albulae Aquae waters, celebrated by doctors, philosophers for their therapeutic virtues. The construction of a sumptuous spa building, designed by Marco Vipsanio Agrippa the builder of the Pantheon, is attributed to Augustus. BATHS OF FIUGGI
Fiuggi is located 33 km from Frosinone, near Monti Ernici. Fiuggi is a medieval city situated on 747 meters above sea level. The city grown with the development of thermal baths and keeps interesting examples of architecture (area Villini, hotel Igea. Here there is one of the oldest Golf Club in Italy (1928 - 18 holes).
The first use of the thermal springs dates back to medieval but the enhancement and final development took off in early '900, following the construction of the first large hotels and to the attention of the royal house who favored a reputation at international level. The Grand Hotel closed in 1945 and the water treatments of Fiuggi had a period of crisis. Today the baths are divided in two hydrothermal establishments: Bonifiacio VIII and Anticolana. The first is immersed in a dense forest and was entirely renovated in the'60s, retaining the original entrance in Liberty style. The spring Anticolana was inaugurated in the thirties. Here there is the Theater of Spring, which annually hosts major music and cultural events.

BATHS OF SUIO
The baths of Suio are about 9 km from Latina. The properties of thermal waters of Suio were already known by the Romans, Aquae Vescinae, for this they built the thermal establishment as you can see from the remains of the "bathtub of Nero."
The baths of Suio are nine and are placed inside different hotels. The water sulphuric-bicarbonate-calcareous arises from different springs of volcanic origin, whose temperature ranges from 36 to 63 ° C.

The baths are located 4 km far from Viterbo, in the heart of Tuscia. The region on the west side of the Tiber, was the heart of the Etruscan power, and continued to be of great importance in Roman times, until the late imperial age when it became a bulwark against the barbarian invasions. Key node of communication, with Cassia, along the North-South Peninsula, Viterbo, prospered in trade but also suffered enormous devastation, until the Second World War. Nevertheless, the city is undamaged, thanks to the embattled city wall that has defended the inner core. The remains of baths go back to the Augustan age, when the town experienced a period of extraordinary brilliance. There were three thermal areas: Acquae Passeris, Paliano and Bullicame, which is the most important and famous, and was cited by Dante in the “Divine Comedy”. In the Middle Ages Viterbo became the center of care for many popes. Here Nicholas V in 1450 built a magnificent palace, the first nucleus of the Terme dei Papi, which followed in 1816, a spa, renovated several times. The water used by the establishments of Viterbo comes from various springs, notably Bullicame Bath of the Pope and S. Valentino, while the mud comes from Bagnaccio lake, a volcanic crater on the bottom of which flow numerous springs. Saturnia and Terme di Saturnia in the town of Manciano, is an oasis of well-being and relaxation in Tuscany near villages rich in history as Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana, from Lake Bolsena and beautiful Costa.

The history of Terme di Saturnia dates back to the Etruscan era.
A local symbol is a figure of a woman which adorns the fountain in the central square of the village, representing the Etruscan goddess Aurinia. Aurinia was renamed Saturnia by the Romans in the 2nd century B.C. Signs of its past, are evident in some parts of the IV / III century B.C. citywalls, and the Roman Gate. In the nearby of the church it is still visible an ancient thermal square bath built by the Romans.
During the Middle Age, the Maremman region was repeatedly assaulted by the cities of Orvieto and Siena. Even if the local feudists had built defensive fortress, the Maremma was conquered. Nobody, in the following centuries, continued the massive drainage works started by Etruscans and Romans,till 1828 with the Duke Leopoldo II. The Maremman region was repopulated and its inhabitants were recognize appropriate health cures. Today, turists spend their holidays in the tuscan Maremma, where to find evocative Etruscan necropolies, elegant Roman villas, mysterious medieval fortress.
