NATIONAL PARK OF CIRCEO
The National Park of Circeo is located along the southern coast of Lazio and extends for approximately 8500 Ha.
Called "Selva di Terracina", the park is covered by Mediterranean scrub and trees typical of marine areas, such as pines, oaks, cork oak.

It represents the largest natural lowland forest in Italy.


The forest today is still a rich ecosystem and extremely varied. Characteristics, for example, are the "swimming pools", the marshy areas, which are formed mainly to the accumulation of rainwater and surface water from groundwater.

Established in 1934, the National Park stretches for 80 km2 and in 1979 there was created a nature reserve known as "Pantani dell'Inferno".

It is part of the park, since 1979, the uninhabited island of Zannone, which belongs to the group of Pontine islands.
