The cool climate, the lakes and fertile fields have made this region an holiday resort of Popes and noble families, as witnessed some very nice homes like Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia and Villa Aldobrandini in Frascati.
Numerous archaeological remains scattered in the territory testify to the importance of the Castelli Romani. Roman villas, hermitages and monasteries, castles, palaces and Renaissance villas embellish this part of Latium.
The Regional Park, established in 1984, was born with the specific purpose of protecting the natural heritage of the Colli Albani, especially surrounding the volcanic lakes of Nemi and Bracciano and Monti Tuscolani.
Protect, then, the great forests of oak, chestnut and holm oak, large blooms of cyclamen and orchids.
The Regional Park consists of an area of high natural value and a great variability of environments: the hills and valleys, hills and mountain lakes, forests and areas prative.
In the park have been set up routes with signs to guide the visitors to the natural landscape, cultural, historical and archaeological of the park.
