Calcata is a municipality in the province of Viterbo. The distance from Rome is about 45 km. The town is perched on a mountain of tuff.
The ancient village emerge from the valley of Treja as a solemn memorial and are accessed from a door that opens on the walls.
In recent years, several artists have bought old houses turning them into sophisticated homes.
The country can access various nature trails along on foot or on horseback, crossing the suburban Valley Park Treja.

Natural Reserve of Treja
Included in the municipalities of Calcata and Mazzano Romano (in the province of Rome), the Nature Reserve of Treja is crossed by the river which took its name and covers an area of about one thousand hectares.
The Museum of Art in Nature, included in the Reserve, offers visitors an interesting art works: the artists who created this original museum only use material supplied by natural forest.
