Cruise ship or ferry with a destination of Rome docks at the Port of Civitavecchia, the modern port of Rome located west of the city.
Civitavecchia is a town of the province of Rome in the central Italian region of Latium (Lazio). A sea port on the Tyrrhenian Sea, it is located 80 kilometers west-north-west of Rome.
The harbor is formed by two moles and a breakwater, on which latter is a lighthouse.
From Civitavecchia to central Rome
By train
There is a train station in the town of Civitavecchia with several trains per hour going to Rome. Local trains take to Roma Termini in about an hour and 20 minutes. Faster trains can make it in under an hour. The station is close to the entrance of the port, but quite a distance from where passengers usually disembark.
Cruise and Ferry passengers can catch a shuttle to the entrance of the port and walk 4 blocks to the train station.
From Civitavecchia to Fiumicino Airport
The Rome international Airport Fiumicino is approximately 50 km from the Port, along the highway.
By Shuttle service
Shuttle services to Rome and its airports are available. The medium rate to Fiumicino Airport is 125 Euro, for 1 or 2 persons.
By train
Trains leaving from Civitavecchia station go to Roma Ostiense or Roma Trastevere, where there is the change for Fiumicino direct train.
