Bee’s Fountain - Via Veneto

The drinking trough, that Bernini placed in Piazza Barberini – Via Sistina’s corner, was dismantled in 1871 and rebuilt in 1920 at the beginning of Via Veneto in a different shape. The pool and the inscription have been reproduced with Salaria Gate travertine.

This fountain, made in 1644, is quite small and represents an open shell. The water springs from three bees (Barberini’s coat of arms) on the superior valve, which give the name to the fountain.
