CATACOMBS OF ROMe

 

The catacoms of Rome were built along the streets consular, as the Via Appia, the Via Ostiense, the way Labicana, the Via Tiburtina, and the way Nomentana.
The treatment of Christian catacombs is entrusted to the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archeology, who directs excavations and restoration work.
In Rome there are Jewish catacombs like those of Vigna Randanini and Villa Torlonia.
